It’s the perfect place to sit back and enjoy the northern sun – With lovely picturesque beachfront walks, natural swimming pools, a water park and plenty of shade for a picnic. You will definitely enjoy an afternoon at The Strand.
Castle Hill Lookout
The Castle Hill lookout is an absolute must do when in Townsville. It’s a 2km steep walk from the base to summit, which many people choose to conquer. However, if your not up for the walk driving is an option as there is a free car park at the top – it’s an amazing sunset location!
Feeling hot? Of course you are this is Australia! Luckily Riverway Lagoons is a 24 hour, free facility for all to use. With two huge pools and a lifeguard service it is the place to go for a dip in the water.
Townsville is a great stopover with a variety of free activities, ample free parking and a picturesque beach front – A day here is a day well spent! Visiting Magnetic Island is a popular tourist tour, which can be booked in the local i-site.
- Fancy a dip in an awesome rock pool. The best one in Townsville can be found where Howitt Street meets the sea. There is free all-day parking here.
- You can feed the turtles here in Townsville. During your visit to Riverway Lagoon head over to the eco active centre, in the water below there will be 20 or so hungry little turtles waiting for your bread.
